365/43 - Our Alphabet

Today in class the students created this art project. I'm really appreciating working with older students - it takes them less time to complete tasks and they produce work with more detail.

For this project I printed out B&W A4 size versions of their photos and cut them in half (facial half not picture half for some). The students then pasted one half on another piece of paper and sketched the missing half.

This could be a good project to repeat later in the year - hopefully students will have made progress in what they see as being important features to sketch.

(Note - my unpainted wall won't be finished until next term so I'm just working around it!)

  1. This is a really cool idea of how to display the artwork, love the alphabet idea. You are definitely not a linear girl :)

  2. Hey Jo, I really like this idea. I have done something a bit similar with my 5 & 6 year olds, at least as far as the alphabet idea with their names. I may post it on our blog later. The half portrait is a great innovation. I've gone the other way in terms of age, from Y2&3 to Y1&2. I'm appreciating how much children progress even in a year.
